A woman died on Friday, August 14, after a metal structure located in front of Plaza Paseo Interlomas, in Huixquilucan, Estado de México, fell on the vehicle she was traveling in.
The accident occurred around 10:30 am on a stretch of Avenida Palma de Dátil – Vialidad de la Barranca, where repavimentation work is being carried out. The structure, used as a totem to identify Plaza Paseo Interlomas, ended up on a white truck that was circulating in the area.
According to initial reports, a concrete mixer participating in the work may have hit the structure during a maneuver, causing it to collapse.
Emergency teams, including Civil Protection, Firefighters, and the Rescue Unit, attended the scene. They found the driver inside the vehicle, but she was no longer showing signs of life.

The area was cordoned off.
The Fiscalía General de Justicia del Estado de México was notified, and its experts carried out the corresponding procedures. The government of Huixquilucan reported that it became aware of the facts around 10:35 am through municipal video surveillance cameras.
The concrete mixer involved belongs to the company contracted to carry out the paving work on a stretch of Avenida Palma de Dátil – Vialidad de la Barranca. The municipal government reported that it will request the company to fulfill its obligations regarding civil liability for the accident and will collaborate with the authorities to clarify the facts.
Paseo Interlomas management stated that the roadwork related to the accident is unrelated to the operation of the shopping center. In a statement, the plaza explained that the structure was accidentally hit by a vehicle used during the work, causing it to fall onto the public road and hit the car the victim was traveling in.

The shopping center expressed its condolences to the victim’s family and stated that it is willing to collaborate with the authorities. The FGJEM will have to determine how the maneuvers occurred, if the corresponding safety measures were taken, and who may be responsible for the accident.
As the investigations advance, the Huixquilucan municipality indicated that it will continue to provide support to the victim’s family and collaborate with the Fiscalía to clarify the case.
The investigation is ongoing.
