The US Department of Justice is offering $25 million for information leading to the capture of Juan Carlos Valencia ‘El 03’, who is believed to be the new leader of the Cártel Jalisco Nueva Generación (CJNG) after the death of his stepfather, Nemesio Oseguera ‘El Mencho’.
Juan Carlos Valencia is the most valuable target for the US, with a higher reward than notorious figures like Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán.
Top Rewards for Mexican Narcotraffickers
The US has offered significant rewards for several Mexican narcotraffickers, including:
- Juan Carlos Valencia ‘El 03’: $25 million
- Rafael Caro Quintero: up to $20 million
- Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Nemesio Oseguera ‘El Mencho’: $15 million each
Juan Carlos Valencia ‘El 03’ is the son of Rosalinda Valencia ‘La Jefa’, the wife of the late Nemesio Oseguera ‘El Mencho’, and his reward is on par with those offered for Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein.
Other Notable Rewards
The US has also offered rewards for other members of the CJNG, including Gonzalo Mendoza Gaytán ‘El Sapo’, Audias ‘N’ ‘El Jardinero’, and Julio Alberto Castillo ‘Chorro’, each with a reward of $15 million.
In addition, the US has offered $10 million for information leading to the capture of Ricardo Ruiz Velasco ‘El Tripas’, Julio César Montero Pinzón ‘El Tarjetas’, and Carlos Andrés Ricvera Varela ‘La Firma’, all of whom are believed to be high-ranking members of the CJNG.

The US has also offered rewards for members of the Cártel de Sinaloa, including Iván Archivaldo Guzmán and Jesús Alfredo Guzmán, the sons of Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán, each with a reward of $10 million.

Past Rewards and Captures
Rafael Caro Quintero was arrested in 2022 and extradited to the US, while Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada and Nemesio Oseguera ‘El Mencho’ have both been the subject of significant manhunts in the past.
Joaquín ‘El Chapo’ Guzmán was arrested in 2016 and is currently serving a life sentence, while his son Ovidio Guzmán López ‘El Ratón’ was detained and released in 2019 before being rearrested and extradited to the US.
