The UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business has reinstated the Business Broadcast of the Year category for its annual Business Journalist Awards, marking the 19th edition of the event.

The awards honor outstanding work in Irish business journalism across print, online, audio, and broadcast media. Winners in each of the eight categories will receive €1,000.

Broadcast category returns after hiatus

The decision to bring back the broadcast category acknowledges the role of broadcast media in making complex economic issues accessible, relevant, and engaging to diverse audiences.

Professor Federica Pazzaglia, director of UCD Smurfit School and associate dean of UCD College of Business, stated the awards emphasize the value of quality journalism in helping students as future business leaders and the wider public understand the forces shaping organisations, markets, and society. “We are proud to host the 19th annual Business Journalist Awards, celebrating the reporters, analysts, and editors whose clarity, rigour, and insight inform public debate and inspire responsible leadership,” she said.

Submissions remain open until 2 September and can be submitted via the school’s website. A panel of experts from academia, business, and media will review entries.
