Strong rains and hail hit the north and east of Mexico City on Saturday, August 1, affecting roads such as Río Churubusco, Insurgentes Norte, and the López Portillo highway in the State of Mexico.
The areas of Lindavista and Deportivo 18 de Marzo, as well as the Agrícola Oriental neighborhood, were also impacted.
Transportation was disrupted due to the weather conditions.
The Cablebús Line 1 service was suspended, but authorities reported that the transportation network was operating normally by 9:00 PM.
Metro Line 3 was also affected, with service limited to the area between La Raza and Universidad stations due to flooding on the tracks.
A user shared a video on social media showing the extent of the flooding on Río Churubusco, which was severely affected.
Floods were reported in several neighborhoods, prompting an emergency response.
Firefighters attended to a flooding incident in the Agrícola Oriental neighborhood, where they drained water from an area of 500 meters.
In Iztapalapa, 40 people were rescued from a flooded business, according to the fire department.
Firefighters also addressed the accumulation of rainwater in a shopping center parking lot.
A sewage spill was reported in a residence in the Agrícola Oriental neighborhood, resulting in a 25-square-meter flooding in the patio.

The government activated the Operativo Tlaloque 2026 in response to the weather-related incidents, with personnel and equipment working together to support the affected population.
They maintained alerts until 9:00 PM due to the strong rains and hail.
The most affected municipalities were Iztacalco, Iztapalapa, Gustavo A. Madero, and to a lesser extent, Cuauhtémoc.
Protection Civil reported the fall of a 15-meter tree in the Valle del Tepeyac neighborhood, but no major damage was reported.
The Metrobús system was also impacted, with the Goma station on Line 2 experiencing flooding, although service was not suspended.
Instead, the Metrobús implemented a safety march, reducing its operational speed to ensure safe passage.
The Línea 5 del Metro was affected by a fallen tree on the tracks, but by 10:40 PM, all stations were reported to be operating normally.
The flooding on Río Churubusco was particularly severe, with a user on social media sharing a video that showcased the extent of the inundation.
The video highlighted the challenges faced by residents and commuters in the area, who had to handle through the flooded streets.
The Operativo Tlaloque 2026 was activated to coordinate the response efforts, with the goal of providing timely and effective support to those affected by the flooding.
The alerts issued by the authorities remained in effect until 9:00 PM, as the strong rains and hail continued to affect the city.
